Thielsen Camp

October 6, 1991

Great trip! Diverse group of 10 hikers ranging in age from 13 to 79. Departed trailhead at Diamond Lake at 10:30 a.m. Arrived junction Howlock and Thielsen Creek Trails at noon for half-hour lunch break. Arrived Thielsen Camp a little after 1:00 p.m. Had long lunch break near head of Thielsen creek within view of Lathrop Glacier. Elevation: 7,500 ft. approximately. Temperature: 70°. Gary and Wes scrambled to saddle for views of central Oregon, Lemolo Lake, Diamond Peak, Sawtooth-Cowhorn Ridge. Returned to cars at 5:00. Eleven-mile round trip was enjoyed by Amber Bell, Sylvia Harvey, Richard Heinzkill, Gary Marx, Ray Mikesell, Nacko Ogawa, Lloyd Plaisted, Arum Toke, Ron Unger and Wes Prouty, leader.
