On an ideal day for hiking, 14 left the South Eugene and were met by two at the Lake Tahkenitch
Campground which is also the trailhead for Threemile Lake.
The trail winds through the trees on old sand dunes. It is wide and well maintained.
The usual mushrooms and huckleberries were missing because of the cold spring and dry summer.
Upon reaching the north end of the lake, we rested, and ate lunch while one swam, and then returned
by the same trail.
The sun broke through and there was virtually no wind.
It was an excellent hike by Donald Baldwin, Beth & Conant Eaton, Gladys Grancorvitz, Ray Jensen,
Helen Lynch, Carrie McClish, Lloyd Plaisted, Dorothy Turner, Paula Vehrs, Miriam Wilkin,
Jenny, Margaret & Megan Wright, and Ewart Baldwin (leader).
