Clear Lake, Sahalie Falls
June 22, 1991
Because we couldn’t get up Fuji Mountain (too much snow) we decided to hike around Clear Lake,
with a detour to view Sahalie Falls.
The weather was cool and cloudy and we had a few sprinkles, but we ate our lunch with a view of the
lake and an osprey’s nest after the rain stopped.
The trail around Clear Lake is varied, soft forest path to rough lava route, with lots of views of
the extraordinarily clear water.
We stopped briefly at Great Spring, the origin of the McKenzie River.
Along the trail we saw bear grass, iris, bunchberry, anenomes and pensteman.
On the way home we enjoyed the terrace at Mom’s Pies.
Our congenial group included Obsidians Sylvia Harvey, Gary Marx, Mary Millman,
Sandra Larsen and Jan White (leaders),
plus Keith Christensen, Sandy Moore, Eli Spevak, Betty Taylor and Christy White.
