Bearbones Mountain

Excellent trip in fine weather to location of former fire lookout at 4,910-ft. elevation. Wild flowers were near peak. Since few knew of this hike, leader made loop trip to show off country. Drove up Row River to Brice Creek, then up ridge past Grass Mountain with stop at lake at bottom; then south past Johnson Meadows to Bearbones. Short, steep hike to top — then lunch. Returned north along same ridge through Holland Meadows, past Larison Rock and out through Oakridge. Hikers were Glenn Aplin, Debbie Bernhard, Mona Bronson, Jane and John Corliss, Dave Coonradt, Susan Dienes, Jane Hackett, Lenore and John McManigal, Lois Nelson, Winifred Yarbrough, Augustine Yow and Donn Chase (leader).
