Lowell Lake

May 27, 1991

Upon meeting leader Mary Bridgeman at Lowell Ranger Station for a hike up to Shotgun Creek, Mary offered to take another hike in the Lowell area — to which she received unanimous consent. This trail begins at the Lowell Lake boat landing (past the store at Lowell), turn right. It is a new trail along the Lowell boundary and along the lake. It is easy and shaded, though somewhat of a rollercoaster, and we had to cross several small streams. We walked approximately five-and-a-half miles, then decided to call lunch at an opening with a promise of some sunshine. In spite of this being the Memorial weekend, we counted only three boats on the lake. It was a first-time trip and much enjoyed by all following the leader … Amy Clugston, Ben Elkus, Ray LaFollette, Sandy Moore, Paula Vehrs (author) and Mary Bridgeman, leader.
