Mt. PisgahApril 25, 1991Heavy rain for days preceded our Mt. Pisgah “less traveled road” hike, and rain started that day, which almost made me cancel the hike. But a visitor from Germany (Stuttgart) was ready and waiting by 8:00 so the hike took place on very muddy trails on the north-east side of Mt. Pisgah. We saw areas rarely seen, some fine spring flowers, and a couple of Bald Eagles were sighted by Glenn Meares with his binoculars. We had lunch in sunshine, and caught just a little rain on our return trip, so it was a good reminder: don’t let the prospect of rain get you down! Participants were Eva Dohman (from Germany), Carol Eimblade, Glenn Meares, Betty Staeck, Frank Windisch, and Birgitte Williams (leader). |
