Christmas Tree HuntDecember 8, 1990We enjoyed fine, sunny weather as we headed up the highway toward the Cascades. We stopped briefly at McKenzie Ranger Station where we purchased Christmas tree cutting permits and had some coffee and cookies. North of Clear Lake we parked along the highway and walked in more than a foot of snow through the timber until we came to a small opening filled with young conifers. We wandered around a while examining the trees until each of us found a noble fir to our liking. We cut our trees and dragged them back to the highway and loaded them in the truck. After lunch we drove back to Eugene. I dropped a tree off at the Obsidian Lodge before going home. Those enjoying this annual outing were Suzanne Steussy and leader Dave Predeek. |
