Bechtel ShelterJanuary 28, 1990Two vehicles and eight participants left S.E.H.S. parking lot at 9:10 a.m. Arrived at Gold Lake SnoPark at 11:00. Skied to Bechtel Shelter for lunch and returned to SnoPark about 3:00. Weather was overcast with occasional snow flurries. Snow was ideal, nearly powder. The last quarter mile up to Bechtel Shelter was strenuous. Several in the party had great difficulty, but gamely persisted in reaching their destination. On the return we avoided the West View Loop and stayed on the road because several members did not feel comfortable with the more difficult trail. (This suggests that West View Loop is for more advanced skiers.) Upon completion of the trip at the SnoPark several of the group left for an independent ski trip up the Gold Lake Road. Bechtel skiers were Ed Cape, Genie Currier, Karen Kunkler, Dot Leland, Hank Plant, Stephanie Story, Suzanne Illegible, and Lawrence Ross (leader). |
