Patterson Mountain

October 7, 1990

It was a beautiful fall day for our hike—sunny and cool. The trail was in excellent condition and we arrived on top just before noon. There is an excellent view from here of the Lookout Point dam and the Willamette drainage. We were able to see the Three Sisters and Broken Top but a little too hazy to see Mt. Jefferson. It was a large party but we have a good parking place at the trailhead on Road 5847555 which accommodated our cars very well. Club parties visited this mountain viewpoint in past years but we had to go cross-country for half the distance but now with this new trail it is an easy trip out there. We have about 8 miles of graveled forest service road to drive from Highway 58 to the trailhead but it was in good condition and is a very scenic drive too. Hikers were Glenn Aplin, Teresa R. Brinwon, Sean Carey, Laurie Ehlhardt, Judith Engle, Judy Forell, Hedi Fraunhofer, Chris Gaynor, Clara Hang, Valerie Jones, Penny McAvry, Gary Marx, Lois Merritt, Maxine Reynolds, Karen Smyer, Beverly Soule and Helen Smith (leader).
