Clear Lake LoopSeptember 9, 1990Due to a mix-up on the day of the Clear Lake hike, only one hiker showed up at the S.E.H.S. parking lot. The weather was beautiful and the lake resembled a mirror. We parked our car near the beginning of the trail and stopped to look at the fish under the bridge at the outlet of the lake. At a point close to the lake shortly after we crossed the bridge we saw a school of large fish. When we saw a boat full of fishermen we told them about seeing the fish. They had also seen them, but the fish weren’t interested! We ate our lunch across the lake from the resort, where we could see the now-empty osprey nest. Earlier in the year it is exciting to see the nesting pair. Clear Lake Trail is a delightful, easy five-mile trip. Our one hiker was Winifred Yarbrough (who expressed an interest in joining the Club). John and Lenore McManigal (leaders). |
