Upper Camp Creek
May 5, 1990
We met at the S.E.H.S. parking lot and made our way through the Campus, over the
Knickerbocker Bridge, and proceeded by the river bike path to Springfield.
Rode north on 5th Street to the EWEB bike path, and out Marcola Road to Hayden Bridge.
Crossed the McKenzie and followed it out along Camp Creek Road to Upper Camp Creek Road.
The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed views of green, rolling hills and spring wildflowers.
There was very little traffic on Upper Camp Creek Road and we continued on as the road narrowed
down to one lane.
Trees shaded the little creek next to us.
We stopped where the pavement ended and a gate barred the way to a gravel road that continues upward
over the ridge.
Since there was no traffic we decided to eat lunch in the middle of the road.
One of the nearby residents did come by in his car and stopped and chatted with us for a while.
We returned to Springfield via Hayden Bridge Road, where the leader dropped out at her home and
others had a cool drink of water and then proceeded back to their homes.
Cycling were Guenther Fuernsteiner, Norma Lockyear, Ardys Ringsdorf and Rose Marie Moffitt (leader).
