Cerro GordoMay 5, 1990The leader met the group in Cottage Grove and directed them to her log house for pre-trip preparation. Beautiful and warm it was as we wound our way over trail, across streams, through muddy areas, under trees, through meadows, and all the way lined with wild irises and other flowers. Lunch was enjoyed in an orchard dating from the early part of the century. Before lunch we had stopped by an old cemetery from the same era. The loop return passed by another neighborhood where a bed and breakfast has been established and we took a look at the site. We also touched on an area that had been selectively logged — quite a contrast to clear-cutting. Those enjoying the hike of varied textures were Dottie Conlon, Judy Forell, Gladys Grancorvitz, Bonnie Ledford, Kate Marquez, Mary Millman, Henrietta Richmond, Sharon Ritchie, Karen Seidel, Velma Shirk, Suzanne Steussy, and leader Shirley Froyd. |
