This beautiful spring day saw quite a group leave Eugene to rendezvous with the leader in
Bob Devine expertly got everyone started on the right track.
The rest of the crew met the crowd at the leader’s mailbox and we drove 18 miles further
to the trailhead.
Most of the folks had not been on this trail before and I think it was a real treat for them.
The trail gets into old growth right off and stays near the creek most of the way with several
access points where one could stand by the river and even dip a toe in.
The water was very cold, but on the return trip cooled a few feet off.
Quite a few flowers provided color.
Five of the group only went one way so we did a car shuttle for them at the start.
This trail offers magnificent trees, waterfalls, a couple of campgrounds across the creek,
and a little history from mining days.
Those enjoying this hike were: Mari Baldwin, Bob and Connie Brown, Ed Cope, Bob Devine, Ben Elkus,
Jack and Joella Ewing, Bob Foster, Joe Freedman, Sylvia Harvey, Carole Houde, Harriet Kofalk,
Carolyn Kompanik, Dot Leland, Erka Liebs, Bonnie Manheim, Mary Millman, Virginia Prouty,
Chuck and Sandy Reul, Jean Ridone, Ardys Ringsdorf, Barbara Schultz, Velma Shirk,
and leader Shirley Froyd.
