Dunes Overlook, FlorenceJanuary 20, 1990Five members and three non-members left the damp fog of Eugene to find a sunny wars day at the coast — not even any wind. After parking at Dunes Overlook we took the one-mile trail to the beach. From there we walked south on the beach until we reached Tahkenitch Creek where we stopped for lunch while we watched the ocean and the sea gulls and sandpipers. After lunch we went north along the beach for about one mile to the point where the trail takes off across the dunes to the parking lot. Along the way are a few views of Tahkenitch Creek and the ocean. The only time we saw other people was at the beginning and end of our hike. It was a great day for an enjoyable beach walk by Cindy and Sylvia Harvey, Gary Marx, Bonnie Manheim, Lorraine Mombert, Fred Schepman and Fred and Jean Richardson (leaders). |
