Odell Lake Lodge-Fawn Lake-Crescent Lake ShuttleFebruary 12, 1989Who can guess what a threatening winter rainy sky in Oregon will bring? Well, &hellip I know of five intermediate cross-country skiers who can. Our group enjoyed perfect snow and questionable weather conditions on our route from Odell Lake Lodge into Fawn Lake and onto Crescent Lake SnoPark. The snow was a fresh, fine corn texture; the weather, a shifty windy day vacillating between driving snow and sunshine. Some of us lunched at Fawn Lake — originally the designated lunch spot — but, several let the gastric juices dictate and ate at all points en route. The return half of the trip presented us with an obstacle course of debris, blockading trees and low hanging branches. We finished our trip with a shuttle back to the lodge — in time for refreshments and Cajun music. But, Alas! The band didn’t show before we hit the return road to Eugene. Thanks to Debbie Noel, John Hudson, Royal Murdock, Colette Govan and especially … Sally Grosscup for helping with the shuttle. You made it a great day. Audrey Cummings. |
