Tidbits MountainJune 11, 1989Eleven hikers set out from Eugene at 0810 on a beautiful sunny day. One car took a wrong turn, delaying the start from the trailhead until 1110. We encountered snow at Tidbits shelter and in many spots above. Some of the snow fields were steep and four of the party elected not to continue all the way. The summit was reached in two groups at 1245 and 1330. It was clear of snow and the view was excellent. We saw from Mt. Hood to Diamond Peak. We started the descent after a short while and reached the trailhead at 1520 and arrived back in Eugene at 1700. On the trip we saw a mountain quail, Indian paintbrush, lupine, and penstemon. Our party included Harold Busby, Kevin Clark, Barb Elsen, Bob Foster, Lindsay Pierce, David Radile, Henrietta Richmond, Ardys Ringsdorf, Susan Roc, Suzanne Steussy, and Joel McClure, leader. |
