Heceta Beach Hike

April 15, 1989

Two carloads of Obsidians departed from South Eugene on what turned out to be a good day despite some sprinkles. We got out at the North Jetty and after viewing the river south, hiked north to the south of Sutton Creek. Then we hiked through the Davidson Subdivision to Joshua Street and headed east into the dunes to a remote stretch of sand through the low scrub pine. Then we hike out to Rhododendron Drive and back to the Baldwin Cabin where we had a while to eat, visit and rest. Then we returned to Eugene, one car via the Darlingtonia State Park and the other via Noti, Vaughan, Crow and home. The day became clear and warm and a good time was had by Margaret Baldwin, Clair Cooley, Emmy Dale, Gladys Grancorvitz, Theresa Ladd, Hans Schock, Lois Schreiner, Karen Seidel, Suzanne Steussy and leader Ewart Baldwin.
