Tahkenitch Dunes Loop

The group trundled down from Eugene to meet the leader in Cottage Grove betwixt sun and fog. The drive over Highway 38 is always such a pretty ride that we were set for a wonderful day. It did not disappoint us — the sun was out and there was not much wind to speak of. After hiking through the sundappled forest we ate lunch overlooking Threemile Lake, after which we crossed the dunes and walked along the beach and back through the forest. The pleasant day was shared by Dorothy Burton, Marty Hathaway, Jeanie Holes, Robin Prentice and leader Shirley Froyd. On the way back we had a snack at the Sugar Shack which is located where Hwy. 38 comes into Reedsport. Good place to stop for soup, bakery and sandwiches and ice cream.
