On this fourth annual cross-country ski trip to the Santiam Lakes region were Genie Currier,
Rachele Fiszman, Gladys Grancorvitz, Alys Riley, Mike and Velma Shirk, Gerry
Annabelle Street, Larry and Leah Williams Ward, and Dorothy Leland (leader).
Where else can you ski and make side trips to five lakes in nine miles?
After parking cars at the Corbett Snow Park, we skied into Island Lake, stopped by Link Lake,
and headed down the road to No-Name Lake.
(This lake now has a name — Torso Lake.)
Instead of having lunch here, we skied up to a nearby hill for our lunch break at the top with
a full view of Jefferson and surrounding mountains.
What a beautiful day — warm, good snow, no cold hands!
After lunch, dike led us on a cross-country traverse down the hill and we came out to the road
opposite Meadow Lake.
One more lake to go — so we turned back up the road and skied down into Hand Lake.
We were back to the cars by 3:30, so a stop for refreshments was agreed upon by all as an end
to a memorable, sunny day in the snow.
