Three Creek Lake
January 31, 1988
What better reason to travel 125 miles than to leave behind Eugene’s winter rains in favor
of the sun and blue skies of the mountains!
A 7:30 a.m. departure alloyed time for a snack stop at the Gallery Restaurant in Sisters.
The 32° temperature and 4 to 5 inches of new snow gave us optimum conditions to charge up
the Three Creek Trail.
Light snow falling and the constant breeze that seems always to be present at the top, kept us
“on the move.”
Time for a brief lunch-stop at Three Creek Lake, and then the big reward: the 5 miles of non-stop
downhill, taking the road back to the cars.
A few snow squalls presented no real problem for our return over Santiam Pass.
A stop at the ever popular Vi’s Cafe, the car shuttle home, and we were safely back in
Eugene by 7:30.
A fine day in the excellent company of
Dallas Cole, Jerry Crosby, Gladys Grancorvitz, Jane Hackett, Carol Horvath, Anne Montgomery,
Dave Predeek, Leslie Proffit, Carol Stern, Gene Thaxton with Doris Allen (leader).
