Tam McArthur Rim
October 16, 1988
The trip departed the S.E.H.S. parking lot at 740 and drove to the trailhead south of
Sisters, Oregon about fifteen miles.
The weather looked bad on the west side of the Cascades but was better on the east side.
We avoided rain all day although it was either cloudy or foggy some of the time.
We ascended the trail which starts just at the north end of Three Creek Lake.
The vertical gain was about 1500 feet so we had a bit of exercise on the way up.
We had lunch on a large rock overhang above the lake.
All the hikers were Obsidians and well prepared for the adversity of a cold wind during lunch.
The view was gorgeous and everyone seemed to enjoy the trip.
The fearless leader made the hike in his Avia running shoes as he had taken along his wife’s
Danner boots instead of his own.
The boots look the same but have you ever tried to put an EEEE size foot in an AAAA size boot?
Tam McArthur Rim hikers were Rachele Moto Fiszman, Bob Foster, Genie Currier, Samuel Miller,
Kathy & Parker Riddle, Henrietta Richmond, Ardys Ringsdorf, Fred Schepean
and John Kocher (leader).
