Diamond View Lake

October 2, 1988

Expecting to have to work around the hunters, we were pleasantly surprised to find none from beginning to end of our hike. We had beautiful weather, very clear and warm. Good views of Diamond Peak from Diamond View Lake, where we spent an hour eating, talking, napping and hiking around the lake. They (Forest Service?) were doing a Spotted Owl Survey in this area — we found markers but no owls. By 4:00 we were at West Odell waiting on our shuttle. For a 12-mile hike this was great and the trail was very good. Hikers were Bill Bankston, Peter Barkowitz, David Becker, Barb Elsen, Mae Jackson, Robin Prentice, Sharon Ritchie, and Jane Hackett (leader).
