Five Obsidians enjoyed a super nice day on the easy 7-mile round trip hike,
in the Mt. Thielsen Wilderness, in spite of numerous mistakes by the trips committee.
The trip was listed in the schedule as Tipsoo Butte, 10 miles difficult.
A call was made to the trips chairman for a correction in the Bulletin.
None was made.

Four Obsidians left Eugene about 7:50 a.m. after returning two cars to owners’ homes because
S.E.H.S. parking lot was blocked off for The Eugene Celebration.
We met Lloyd at the Del Rey Cafe, in Winchester, where we started things off right by sharing
the biggest cinnamon roll this side of Cinnamon Butte.
After admiring the beautiful fall colors along the North Umpqua we reached the trailhead,
on Wits End Road, at 11:10 a.m.
We made it to the 8031-ft. summit at 1 p.m. for lunch and great views, in all directions,
under a cloudless sky, in a warm breeze.
After lunch we all made the other two nearby summits, on the same ridge, just for fun,
and to make it a three summit day.
Tipsoo Peakers were Bob Foster, Lloyd Plaisted, Henrietta Richmond, Ardys Ringsdorf
and Wes Prouty (leader).
