Five Lakes Ski Tour
March 15, 1987
We did it — we skied to all five lakes!
After parking our cars along the highway we started down the road and “cross-countried”
up to Island Lake, and made a loop run back to the road.
We skied past Link Lake and 2½ miles to No Name Lake.
Here we sat along the edge of the lake and had lunch, watching and enjoying the sun and the clouds
making shadow patterns over lake and landscape.
On a nearby hill we spent some time practicing downhill skills.
A brief, delightful snow shower reminded us winter was still around.
Following the road back, we took off to the left to find Meadow Lake, stopped there briefly,
then hurried on and took the side road into Hand Lake, and another look at Link Lake, and back to
Sun, clouds, good snow and 14 happy, first-time “loopers” to the Five Lakes:
Dallas and John Cole, Jim Crosby, Leona Devine, Rachele Fiszman, Otto and Sharon Poticha,
Leslie Proffit, Henrietta Richmond, Ardys Ringsdorf, Diane Schechter, Andrea Wiese, Charley Wright,
and Dorothy Leland (leader).
