March 14-15, 1987
Under cloudy, rainy skies, 15 hardy skiers with packs ready for snow camping, left Eugene.
Upon arriving at the West Gate and the start of our shuttle, with no let-up in the rain, and as
the reality of possible wet gear began to sink in, we decided to forego the overnight and go with
“Plan B,” which was a day trip from Hoodoo to Little Nash via Sand Mountain.
At this point four skiers came up with “Plan C” – to either head back to Eugene
or spend the day in Portland!
Wet snow on and off, Sand Mnt. skiers had a great run through beautiful scenery with a rollercoaster
Many thanks to our shuttle crew Donna and Claude Plunkett, and our Central Oregon weatherman Bob Dark.
The leaders appreciate the good spirits and high flexibility of the entire group, and when
“Plan A” is repeated hope you can all join us once again.
Skiers were Richard Ahrens, Doris Allen, Audrey Cummings, Jane Hackett, Janet Baker Jacobsen,
John Jacobsen, Dick Moffitt, Royal Murdock, and Annabelle Street.
Leaders were Tom Donnelly and Chris Shuraleff.
