Odell ButteMarch 7, 1987Four people in search of snow on a potentially great ski day. Beal Prairie Shelter, our original destination, provided us with three patches of snow widely separated by acres of bare road. We decided we did not want a ski-hike, so returned to Highway 58 and went on to Gold Lake Sno Park. The snow here just looked tired. We finally decided to try Odell Butte, and found snow, an absence of ice and tree wells, great views and a good down-hill run. Skiers were Tim Cook, Jerry Crosby, Royal Murdock and Jane Hackett (leader). |
