Gold LakeJanuary 24, 1987This trip has great downhill ski runs, but they weren’t there for us on Saturday! Instead, we had 2 feet of heavy, wet snow to push through for the first three-plus miles. We got off to a rough start when the leader forgot her car key (I was the shuttle) and had to hussle back up Pengra Pass Road to retrieve it; followed by breaking trail for everyone in 5-minute turns. We took a 10-minute lunch break in the trees before we crossed the tracks to pick up the next road and go on. Fortunately, some type of vehicle had been driven up to the tracks, so the remaining part of the trip was completed on packed snow and we did get some nice runs. The shuttle was completed as quickly as possible due to the soggy state of all skiers, who were: Jack and Dallas Cole, Lyn La Graner, Jan Baker Jacobsen, Anne Montgomery, Rodmella, Greg Smith, Gene Thaxton and leader Jane Hackett. |
