South Beach Florence

November 21, 1987

Seventeen people enjoyed a warm sunny day “dune hopping” along the Siuslaw estuary. We saw the trumpeter swans from a distance and as they flew overhead. Wind and rain effected “sand painting” and “sand sculptures” that were truly magnificent. As we ate lunch the clouds that had been hanging over the edge of the surf decided to head inland, causing us to head for our cars. We almost beat the light rain, but no one got very wet. Thanks to member Dee Bray who served as resident tour guide, and for bringing four friends from Bandon and Coos Bay — Alice Richter, Billy and Betty Mault, and Caroline Jenkins. Members enjoying the sun, sand and surf were Gladys Grancorvitz, Geerte Nicolai, Maureen Wilson, Fred Schepman, Bernie Claypool, Michael Cooper, Diane Tvorik, Mary Millman, Helen Lynch, Pauline Dibb, Jack Ewing and leader Joella Ewing.
