Clear Lake Loop
November 7, 1987
We departed an overcast Eugene at 9:00 a.m. but broke into sunshine by the time we reached Leaburg.
With the exception of some scattered clouds, the rest of the day epitomized Indian Summer.
Clear Lake offered us a variety of color and images as we circled it.
In addition, we found an assortment of water fowl gliding across its placid surface.
Then, too, on the marshy northeast side we found considerable evidence of beaver presence.
The circuit was completed by 3:00 p.m. and only one carload succumbed to the lures of the pie
shop on the return.
The balance of the group got back to Eugene in time to see the televised evening football game
between the Ducks and Arizona State.
Hiking companions on this trip were: Bob Devine, Mae Jackson, Velma Shirk, Shirley Froyd,
Eleanor Wilkerson, Gladys Grancorvitz, Genie Currier, Virginia Prouty, Ethel Steussy, Vera Woolley,
Frank and Ruth Sumich, and leader Vernon Barkhurst.
