Mt. June

June 27, 1987

Fifteen hikers met under sunny skies at the SEHS parking lot. After introductions, we headed out 30^th Avenue and up Highway 58. We turned onto Rattlesnake Road, the Lost Creek Road, then onto a paved road that passed Eagles Rest Butte and on up to Eagles Rest Trail no. 3462 (which has been changed). We started up the trail at approximately 9:15 a.m. and reached the top of Mt. June at about 11 a.m. After a leisurely lunch, a bask in the sun, much discussion of which mountain peak was which and a wild flower identification session, the group started down. One person zigged when they should have zagged and some of the party came out at the new trailhead, but all turned out well after a “short search.” The group returned to Eugene.
