Olallie Mnt.

June 6, 1987

We drove over Cougar Dam and up the East Fork Road to the trailhead. The weather was warm and dry. There was an early snow melt this year and there were only a few small patches of snow left on the trail. The spring flowers were blooming in the meadows. Our group of seven enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the summit of Olallie Mountain before descending back to the parking area. As we were driving back, I took the group on a detour towards Mosquito Creek to view a waterfall. However, the road was winding and narrow and unfit for low clearance vehicles heavily laden with passengers. Well, we didn’t see the falls but returned directly to Hwy. 126 via the Horse Creek Road. On our return to Eugene we made one stop at the Village Cafe for coffee and fresh strawberry pie. Hikers were Doris Allen, Rachele Noto Fiszman, Robert Foster, Richard Heinzkill, Sharon Ritchie, Suzanne Steussy, and leader Dave Predeek.
