Thirteen of us left the S.E.H.S. parking lot at 9:10 a.m. in four vehicles.
We arrived at the Cottage Grove freeway exit at 9:30 and picked up the 14th hiker.
We continued on east to Disston and turned northeast on Hwy. 17.
Eight miles up, we parked at the Spirit Falls turnoff at 10:30.

The air was cool — just about right for the walk.
The pit-run rock on the road was a little difficult for those with light soled canvas shoes.
We managed to temporarily lose two hikers as we strung out quite a way over the first hour of the walk.
