April 5, 1987
The trip started out with a tour of the leader’s log house.
The hike began under cloudy skies as we wound our way up through woods on the old Homestead Road
to the first orchard and old homestead built in the early 1900s.
There we also visited the old family graveyard.
The daffodils were blooming as were a few fawn lilies and wild iris.
We climbed higher to the second orchard where we first encountered our old friend RAIN!
We found a patch of cedars to keep us dry for lunch.
From there we made our way through the orchard and large ant mounds.
The walk back took us to a nice viewpoint which was pointless because of rain and clouds.
When we got back to the house we had tea and hot chocolate.
At Cerro Gordo were Levra Adams, Shirley Driver, Lin Pierce, Ethel Steussy, Jane Tucker,
and leader Shirley Froyd.
