Sutton Creek Loop
March 1, 1987
Those people who believed the weather forecast missed out on a great walk through the Sutton Creek
The weather was warm and toasty.
Fourteen hikers enjoyed the figure eight loop beginning at the estuary overlook parking area.
The seven miles included a side trip through the sand to circle Alder Dune Lake where lunch was
enjoyed at the park picnic area.
The walk included viewing the estuary, walking through transition forest and along the creek,
and climbing through the dunes.
Spring was evident in the skunk cabbage, gorse, manzanita and scotch broom in bloom.
The group was a good one lead by Maxine Hall and Barbara Chinn and swept by Mary Ellen West.
It is possible to get lost so a map of the area and paying attention to direction is wise.
Hikers were Susan Baker, Marcia Danab, Miki Hutchison, Lee Hatch, Linda Wells, Mae Jackson,
Ethel Steussy, Marian Fincher, Allan Sorenson, Leslie Proffit, Ed Lovegren
and Mary Ellen West, Barbara Chinn and Maxine Hall.
