Ash Swale ShelterFebruary 28, 1987On Saturday, February 28, a work party re-shaked one side of the roof and patched up the sides of the Ash Swale shelter. Shakes and nails were provided by the USFS Lowell Ranger District. Bob and Sharon Andreason brought a horse and packed the shakes from the trailhead to the shelter, and Bob wore his knees thin trying to stay on the roof long enough to nail the shakes in place. Supervisor Helen Smith ramrodded the job, assisted by Mary Bridgeman, Joella Ewing, Shirley Froyd, Melinda Bruce, Jerry Casby. And I helped, too. Helen and Mary acquired and placed a new trailhead sign to replace the larger one that was stolen recently. — Larry Cash |
