Enchanted ForestMay 28, 1987Twenty-four adults and one child boarded the Coach at S.E.H.S. at 8 a.m. on May 28. After a short prayer by driver Baxter Shaw we traveled up I-5 to the Enchanted Forest. Even though there was only one child with us, we didn’t miss the fun of watching children enjoy the fairy tale people and slides because two Bus loads of children from Salem arrived about the same time we did. We visited the Old Town and the Haunted House as well as many other attractions. About 11:30 we reboarded the Coach for a pleasant ride through the valley to Silver Falls State Park. By the time we arrived the sky was starting to drip a little so the covered picnic area was a welcome sight. Tom Carmichael, Ingrid’s grandson, is a Boy Scout so he built the fire in the fire ring. This added much to the enjoyment of our lunch time. It quit raining and most everyone made the short hike to see the nearby Falls. Our trip home was through the various small towns east of the freeway. We arrived back in Eugene at about 5 p.m. Those enjoying the day were Beverly Amsden, Mary Andreasen, Rita Baxter, Helen Blemker, Hazen and Lorene Bressler, Ingrid and Tom Carmichael, Eleanor Dean, Marje and Bill Eaton, Bette Hack, Laura Hayes, Beatrice Hill, Anna Marie Howard, Mae Jackson, Carman Olsen, Dean and S.F. Patterson, Janice Pattison, Lois Person, Minnie Robertson, Hazel Stalsberg, Vera Wooley and Lillian Johnson (leader). |
