Hayrick Butte (Proxy Falls)February 8, 1986Nine people signed up for the snowshoe trip from White Branch Youth Camp to Proxy Falls. However, because four of these either had trouble reading the line on the sign-up sheet that says departure time, or lacked the courtesy to call the leader if cancelling, five of us started up the McKenzie at the appointed time. As there was too little snow at White Branch (almost none) all elected to go on to Hayrick Butte rather than hike on the McKenzie River Trail. The weather was sunny and warm as we completed our trip around the Butte in six or so inches of new snow. Snowshoers were Norm Benton, Bryant Mitchell, two unnamed young ladies (Their names got lost in the wash.) and leader Lee Hatch. |
