Cerro Gordo-Dorena Lake Area

The group met the leader in the parking lot of El Gordo’s Restaurant in Cottage Grove and were escorted up to Shirley’s log home where the hike began. After a visit in the log home and a brief description of the locale, the hikers set off and enjoyed a fog free and beautiful spring like day.

We walked along the old homestead road from the turn of the century up to the old homestead with its orchard and gravesite. We went further up the hill to the second orchard where we basked in the sun after lunch. For the return walk, we went along what is known as the east ridge and made a nice loop trip.

The hikers were Mary Bridgeman, Jack and Joella Ewing, Dorothy Hayes, Margit Hollerud, Mae Jackson, Bobbie Kalbfleisch, Ruth McCalop, Harlo and Marty Perrin, Dewey Porter, Virginia Prouty, Susan Roe, Bert Tepfer, Linda Wells, Jan White, Art Wild and leader Shirley Froyd.
