Hayrick Butte/Big Lake

January 4, 1986

Our annual first-Saturday-in-January snowshoe trek around Hayrick Butte with lunch pause at Big Lake came off true to usual form. Eugene was foggy; it was sunny past Walterville until we arrived at the Hoodoo parking lot when the sky became overcast. We enjoyed intermittant sun until we got to Big Lake for lunch when the “breeze” picked up a bit. Dark clouds moved in from the west as we cot within hailing distance of the cars. As we were loading up and heading back down the “hill”, big wet snowflakes were pummeling all within reach. We all had lots of fun on snowshoes on another great day up on the mountain with Obsidian friends and guests. Come join us next January.
