Eagles Rest Trail

December 14, 1986

We had a dry, pleasant day to make this hike. Took time along the way to talk about and look over the impacts on the trail of timber harvesting. The Gneiss Timber Sale had two units which had impacted the trail. Last winter the Ash Swale Trail was closed to hikers because of the cutting of these uits. Some funds from this sale have been allocated to the Recreation Department of the Lowell Ranger District to make some improvements on this trail. Such as, a new trailhead and parking area off the Goodman Creek road, a relocation and construction of a short segment of the trail down to the new parking, then the construction of turnpike across a swampy section of the trail, and a relocation and construct of a short, steep section just above the shelter. It was a little breezy on top, so after eating our lunches and enjoying the view, we headed back to the cars.

At Ash Swale were Cab Clark, Bob Foster, Michael Rechel, Jerri Rexford, Gail Russell, Art Wild, Syd Steen and leader Helen Smith.
