McKenzie River Trail

October 12, 1986

Our group of 14 left the parking lot at 9 a.m. on a sunny Sunday. After a confused start, due to a substitute leader, we mace a stop at Jenny Harris Wayside rest stop and met fellow Obsidian, Helmut Plant with a group of German Club students. We started our hike at Carmen Smith Reservoir and proceeded on the trail at a lively pace. We were enjoying all the lovely fall foliage and the warm day. Part of our group missed the trailhead after crossing the road but eventually all got together again to enjoy our lunch stop at Blue Pool. The trail had a few limbs down but otherwise was in excellent condition.

The following hikers were such good sports about being led by the substitute leader: Gladys Grancoryitz, Corinne Hunt, Andy and Marie-Anne Thompson, Ginny Campbell, Shelly Mehon, Lisa Muller, Shirley Rhoded, Lori Shapiro, John and Marie Stringer, Carol Witcher and co-leaders Carol Houde and Sandra Larsen.
