French PeteJune 7, 1986Pleasant trip along the French Pete Trail! The day was cloudy and cool, which made it nice for hiking. Began the trip around 10 a.m. and ate lunch at 1 2:15 p.m. Observed several sections along the trail that needed maintenance; e.g., logs across the trail, an uprooted tree, etc. There were many beautiful wildflowers in bloom, but few of the members could identify them. After lunch the group enthusiastically chose to continue hiking beyond the point that was planned. After a mile we turn around and walked back to the cars. The group consisted of nonmembers Glenn Aplin, Dewey Porter, Bill Starling and Art Wild plus members Mae Jackson, Herb Lee, Jerry Maul, Carol Stern, Leigh Williams and leader Gary Marx. |
