Cloverpatch TrailMay 21, 1986The weatherman’s forecast of rain was accurate. Cold drizzles pelted our group of seven as we climbed Cloverpatch Trail. Occasional blue openings in the gray sky and transient gleams of sunlight promised, but did not bring improvement. The exertion of the climb kept us warm until another surprise coincided with our lunch stop at the cloud obscured viewpoint. Snow! Lunch was brief; then our chilled party descend quickly to the protection and warmth of Leo’s Land Rover, and an early return to Eugene. Bright points of the trip were the beauty of the trail and many flowers and good humored conversation with these old and new friends: Helen Fisher, Gladys Grancorvitz, Marjory Kelm, Lois Morse, Leo Pike, Pat Shaw, and leader Velma Shirk. |
