Sawtooth Rock

May 11, 1986

The weather was poor — stormy and threatening. Fresh snow had fallen the night before so the ridge line where the Sawtooth trail is had a fresh coating of snow.

I took the party up on the Eagles Rest Butte so they could see Mt. June and Hardesty, and the ridge line. Then we drove on east on the Lost Creek Road and walked to the end of the newly constructed Lost Creek Trail. A short trip up the Eagles Rest Trail towards the Sawtooth Trail where the drippy, wet snow turned us back to the cars. I took part of the party up a steep, side spur road to an old landing where the new trail would cross. There is a fine view of the Goodman Creek drainage and Eagles Rest. These short trips completed our day. A sleety rain came across us as we came down off the Eagles Rest Butte and then, just before lunch, a brief rain storm came over us.

Participants were Tom Cawi, Judy Friend, Helmut Junge, Lydia Junge, Heido Junge, Julie Kahle, Gary Marx, Sandra Larsen, Linda Simmons, Betty Taylor, Al Wingerd and leader Helen Smith.
