Frissel PointApril 27, 1986On Sunday, April 27th, when everything was obscured by clouds and rain, we trudged through snow most of the way to mile 4, sometimes sinking 1½ feet deep at each step. Occasionally the clouds lifted so we could see the deep cut valleys or the snowy road cuts near the top of Frissel Point. We got thoroughly soaked as it poured and we slogged through slush. Three of us sat down and ate a snack, but we all got back to the cars early. We didn’t hike to the top … There was a nice view of the road turns and deep cut valleys on the way back but still we couldn’t see the marvelous views of the Three Sisters, Mt. Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington, Mt. Hood and Mt Batchelor that was so clear the week before. I gave everyone a rough map so they could come here again. I showed slides of Frissel Point view to John and Tom over coffee at Vi’s Cafe. The six who braved this rainy, moist weather were Tom Cawi, John Cecil, Virginia Prouty, Art Wild, Bob Weigel and leader Bob Foster. |
