Upper McKenzie Paddle Raft
April 13, 1986
It is possible to paddle raft the Fall Creek but not on April 13, 1986. There has to be rain or snow melt to make the creek rise. So the six people who wanted to do Fall Creek went with the Oregon River Experiences people to do the Upper McKenzie instead.
The group put in at Paradise Park and rafted down to Blue River. The river has changed its channel. Near the Delta campground area is a dramatic change in the river.
It was a pretty day most of the time. There were occasional sprinkles and a lot of sun; the hills nearby were white from the fresh snow of the day before. The water of the rushing McKenzie was ice cold; just ask our feet. Frequent stops to thaw out our feet, have snacks and a super lunch, the beauty of the river, the good time provided by the O.R.E. people made for a great trip. Thanks for the maiden voyage on the new McKenzie, O.R.E.
Rafters were Barbara Chinn, Maxine Hall, Corinne Hunt, Jeanne Holms, Linda Wells and leader Mary Ellen West. Next year we’ll do Fall Creek!
