Bike to Cottage GroveApril 6, 1986The bikers met at the Emerald Valley Forrest Inn parking lot and rode away under a clear blue sky. We took pictures of the castle on Sears Road and enjoyed the many fruit trees and gardens in bloom. After lunching at Coiner Paris in Cottage Grove we rode through town to a street where the turn-of-the-century houses have been kept in perfect condition. The plaques on them name mining and lumber pioneers of the late 1800’s that owned the houses. We rode across a suspension bridge, then back into town to tour the historical museum. We were shown working models of a stamper (rock crusher) and a green chain. Enjoying the great weather and the historical ride were Corinne Hunt, Bob Moffitt, Ava Smith and leader Carol Houde. |
