Whale Watching TripMarch 29, 1986It was a day to remember according to all the participants: a beautiful, sunny day; invigorating hike to the top of Cape Perpetua; lunch at Devil’s Churn; rolling ocean swells that affected only a few people near the end of the 2¾ hour trip; and WHALES — lots of them. We had several sightings of each of 8 different whales, following each whale until a new one seemed more promising. Back on dry land we had supper at Mo’s, did a little browsing in Old Town and headed home as the sun was setting. We made a beach stop along the way so Ruth could run barefoot in the surf for the first time in 15 years. The five tired but happy sea farers were Mary Bridgemen, Barbara Elsen, Ruth McCalop, Joyce Strassberg and leader Joella Ewing. |
