Hardesty MountainMarch 23, 1986Incessant rain did not prevent us from seeking the top of Hardesty Mtn. on Sunday. However, it did prevent us from seeing any view beyond 100 feet, and it dampened any thought of basking in warm sun at the old lookout site. In fact, to prevent hypothermia all extra clothing was donned, lunch was quickly eaten, and a quick descent brought us back to the trail end early in the day. Sound terrible? But believe us who went, it was mostly quite enjoyable. Those who came and conquered were Helen Fisher making her first qualifying hike, previous member Ruth Coffman, new hiking enthusiast Art Wild, and Obsidians Virginia Prouty, Gary Marx and leader Betty Macy. |
