Mt. ThielsenJune 7, 1986We left the trailhead at 7:45 a.m. under mostly sunny skies. Much too quickly the snow on the trail became heavy enough that we headed cross-country (snow at 6400 ft). The west ridge of Thielsen was clear of snow so upon reaching that point we once again got on the “climbers trail.” Everyone was on top by 2 p.m. where we had a long lunch watching the clouds blow by. After going back down the west ridge, we again got out the map and compass at the PCT to head cross-country back to the cars. We reached the cars about 7 p.m. after a long, but enjoyable day. Climbers were Rick Ahrens, Wendy Boyd, Carol Horvath, Janet Baker Jacobsen and leader John Jacobsen. |
